This title is a new entry in the *Castlevania* series, developed by Evil Empire and Motion Twin—the teams behind the globally acclaimed *Dead Cells*.

You play as Rose Belmont, the daughter of Dracula-slayer Trevor Belmont. As of 6:00 PM on October 13, the PS5 version of the game has a Metascore of 86 based on 44 reviews. Notable scores and ratings are as follows:

  • Region Free (100)
Not only is this one of the best games of the year, but it can also be considered one of the greatest masterpieces in the entire Castlevania series.

  • Atomix (95)
This game is a dream come true for everyone who loves the series. I’m simply amazed by the effort that Evil Empire, Motion Twin, and Konami poured into this title.

  • True Gaming (90)
The game’s greatest appeal lies in its unique art style, the whip-based movement system, and, of course, its diverse arsenal of weapons and abilities. Furthermore, the introduction of Arcana Cards adds a new gameplay element that further enhances the fun.

  • SpazioGames (80)
This return to 2D proves that, in the hands of the right development team, Konami’s legendary IP can still be thoroughly enjoyable for modern players.

  • Push Square (70)
While excellent in many ways, it doesn’t quite stand out in today’s market, which is flooded with Metroidvania-style games.

Overall, praise is particularly prominent for the graphic design and the game’s high level of polish as a Metroidvania. On the other hand, some critics have pointed out the inconvenient placement of save points and controls that feel slightly sluggish.
