This news was revealed by Steve Lin, a board member of the Video Game History Foundation, who reported on the event via Bluesky. According to Lin, this remastered version will be titled *Wing Commander III 30th Anniversary Edition* and will feature the following:
Consolidation of the Kilrathi Saga (the original trilogy)
Source material consisting of 600 master FMVs (Full Motion Videos)
Upscaled master FMVs
Includes community-created expansion patches
60 fps gameplay
Controller support
Scheduled for release on Steam, GOG, and the EA app

Although billed as a 30th-anniversary remaster of *Wing Commander III*, which was released in 1994, the international media outlet PC Gamer predicts—based on the slides—that the remaster will also include the original *Wing Commander* from 1990 and *Wing Commander II* from 1991.
The series is known as a space combat sim themed around 1990s space battles, and *Wing Commander III* was highly acclaimed for its cutscenes featuring live-action footage.
The *Wing Commander* series has also influenced *Squadron 42*, a sci-fi action-adventure game considered its spiritual successor, with actors such as Mark Hamill and John Rhys-Davies—who also appear in *Squadron 42*—having participated in the original series. Even for those unfamiliar with the original series, this is a title worth keeping an eye on, just like *Squadron 42*.
*Wing Commander III 30th Anniversary Edition* is scheduled for release on PC (Steam, GOG.com, and the EA app).
