On October 9, Playground Games announced that the PS5 version of the open-world racing game *Forza Horizon 6* will be released on January 26, 2027.
Release Date Moved from Later This Year to January 2027
Set in a Japanese map featuring “Tokyo City”—the largest urban area in the series’ history—this latest installment in the open-world racing series lets players race and explore as they strive to become a Horizon Festival Legend.

The release date for the PS5 version has now been announced, and pre-orders are open on the PlayStation Store. The Standard and Deluxe Editions will be released on January 26, 2027, while Premium Edition purchasers will be able to start playing on January 21.
Development of the PS5 version is being handled by Panic Button—the same team behind the PS5 version of the previous title, *Forza Horizon 5*—in collaboration with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. The specifications for the PS5 version, as revealed on the official website, are as follows:
Supports cross-play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions
User-generated content (UGC)—such as EventLab races, estates, and tuning settings created by players on other platforms—will be available from day one
Two rendering modes are available: “Quality Mode” at 4K/30 fps and “Performance Mode” at 60 fps
Previously, the PS5 version was scheduled for release in the second half of 2026; however, in late August, The Verge reporter Tom Warren stated that he “did not expect it to launch within the year,” leading to widespread speculation that the release would be postponed to 2027 or later.
Amid this, the official team reiterated in September that a release within the year was still planned, and it appeared the delay rumors had been dispelled; however, with the recent announcement of a January 2027 release, the game has effectively been delayed.
First Expansion Pack to Launch on All Platforms on January 21
On January 21, 2027—when early access begins for purchasers of the PS5 Premium Edition—the game’s first premium expansion pack will also be released across all platforms.
Details about this expansion pack are unknown at the time of writing, and Steam News states that they will provide an update as the release date approaches. A second expansion is also scheduled for release at a later date.
Furthermore, the official blog announced that a free content update for all players is planned to coincide with the PS5 version’s release and the launch of the Premium Expansion Pack. Specific details regarding this update will also be revealed at a later date.
Collaboration with 7-Eleven Begins
In-game, a collaboration project with the major convenience store chain “7-Eleven” has begun.
As part of this collaboration, a limited-time “7-Eleven”-themed car meet has appeared in “Horizon Meet.” Additionally, three reward cars—making their series debut—and ten cars designed for spec races have been added.
*Forza Horizon 6* is now available for PC (Steam/Microsoft Store) and XBOX Series X|S. It is also available via Game Pass on the Microsoft Store.
The PS5 version is scheduled for release on January 26, 2027, and Premium Edition purchasers will be able to play starting January 21. A pre-order bonus available for all editions is a tuned “Ferrari J50,” which players can obtain after starting the game and completing the prologue.
