Retrofiction Games has announced *Dead of Darkness 2*, the sequel to the 2D survival horror game *Dead of Darkness*, which was released in 2025.
A Nightmare Beyond Words
This old-school, gritty 2D survival horror game emphasizes story and world-building. Jun Takahara, who rescued an injured girl deep in the forest, finds himself caught up in a nightmare filled with indescribable terror after arriving in a sinister town in search of help.
As the official sequel to *Dead of Darkness*, the game retains the previous title’s distinctive sprite-based art style while featuring higher-resolution visuals, gameplay from a fully 2D quarter-view perspective, and an increased number of animations.Story-wise, the game builds upon the world established in the previous title while introducing new characters and “Golden Creek,” an ominous location that serves as the setting for exploration.
