Publisher Toplitz Productions and developer SpaceRocket Games have unveiled a post-launch content roadmap for the survival sandbox game *Permafrost*, which is set to launch in Early Access on October 9, 2026.
Post-apocalyptic Survival in the Arctic
*Permafrost* is a near-future survival sandbox game set in a frozen world following the collapse of civilization. Players take on the role of Luke, an engineer who steps into this harsh world after receiving a message from a missing old friend, and must find a way to survive by hunting and crafting.The game is story-driven and supports multiplayer for up to four players.
The initial Early Access build, launching on October 9, 2026, already includes key game features such as diverse biomes, hundreds of items, and recipes for building and crafting. Players can also experience in-game side quests and multiplayer.The Early Access period is planned to last at least 12 months, during which the developers intend to expand content—including biomes, quests, NPCs, and equipment—and optimize the game.
Early Access Content Roadmap
The published Early Access roadmap outlines plans for four upcoming updates. The first update aims to improve combat animations, add new items, and implement quality-of-life (QoL) improvements related to crafting and the inventory. The second update is scheduled to enhance weapon crafting, add side quests, and include visual improvements.
The third update will introduce a new piece of equipment, the “Sledgehammer,” which will allow players to destroy obstacles and objects while exploring. The fourth and final update in the roadmap will add a new biome called “White Hell,” along with new enemies and items. The release dates for each update have not yet been announced.
*Permafrost* is scheduled to launch on Steam Early Access on October 9, 2026. The price will be $24.99 (with region-specific pricing also available), and a launch sale offering a 20% discount has been announced.
