"Blade Smith," a hardcore Japanese sword-smithing sim featuring 11 distinct stages of Japanese sword crafting, will release a demo version on October 9 that lets players experience some of the sword-making processes.

SENSE SHARE has announced that a demo version of “Tou-Kaji,” a hardcore simulator that recreates the process of forging Japanese swords, will be available on PC (Steam) starting October 9.

Forge a Sword Set in Kyoto During the Bakumatsu Era

This simulation game faithfully recreates the 11-step process of forging a Japanese sword, allowing players to craft their own sword from scratch. Set in Kyoto during the Bakumatsu period, players take on the role of a swordsmith and complete each detailed step—from tamahagane to the finished sword—one by one.

In the upcoming demo, players can experience several stages of the sword-making process, including charcoal cutting, heating and rolling, rough rolling, fire forging, clay application, quenching, and polishing. In particular, the sequence “clay application → quenching → polishing → hamon” appears to be a crucial process where the pattern of clay applied to the blade by the player itself emerges as the finished sword’s hamon after undergoing quenching and polishing.

You can take a close look at the finished sword in “View Mode.”

*Blade Smith* is scheduled for release via Early Access on PC (Steam).
