It has been announced that the free-to-play MMORPG “AION 2,” which just launched its official service on October 5, has already surpassed 400,000 active players.
In response to this milestone, the development team posted a message of gratitude on the official website, commenting, “The entire team is thrilled to see so many new Divas joining Atreia.”To celebrate this milestone, all players will receive “Master’s Porgs-Yaki (Engraved) ×15” and “Spirit Stone of Resurrection (Engraved) ×15.”
Official Service Begins at 10:00 PM on October 5
Early access for Founders Pack purchasers began on September 30 at 11:00 PM. Following that, official service launched on October 5 at 10:00 PM, making the game available to all players for free.
Just one hour later, the number of concurrent players exceeded 300,000. It was then revealed that, one hour after that, the figure had surpassed 400,000.
Additionally, according toSteamDB, the number of concurrent players on the Steam version stood at 374,098 at the time of writing. Since the game is available on both Steam and Purple, this means that out of the total 400,000 active players, over 370,000 were concurrently online on Steam alone at its peak.Furthermore, the number of concurrent players on Steam continues to rise, and further growth in the active player base is expected.
A vast high-fantasy world 36 times larger than the previous title
The game is set 200 years after the events of its predecessor, “The Tower of AION.” In a world fractured by the collapse of the Tower of AION, players will experience a story revolving around the fading power of the Divas and the fate of the world.
The game’s greatest feature is the ability to freely explore a vast high-fantasy world—36 times larger than the previous title—by flying wherever you please. In addition to eight classes, the game features highly detailed character customization with over 200 adjustable options. You can create a character that’s uniquely yours by fine-tuning every detail—from facial features and body type to outfits, wings, and color schemes.
The combat system has evolved to be faster and more dynamic, making the timing of skill activation, positioning, and aerial maneuvers crucial. Your actions and decisions significantly influence the course of battle, and by combining skills and their customizations, you can build your own unique playstyle.
In addition to content designed for leisurely solo play, the game offers multiplayer content—such as dungeons for 5 or 10 players and field events—where you can team up with friends. When battling powerful boss monsters or tackling high-difficulty dungeons, clear role division and coordination among classes are essential.
The global version supports Japanese for both subtitles and audio, which can be changed in the settings menu. Servers are located in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan, and both Steam and Purple platforms use the same servers. Additionally, following the official release, new servers have been added to accommodate the higher-than-expected number of players.
