Bandai Namco Entertainment has issued a second announcement regarding how the pre-order bonus, *ACE COMBAT ZERO: THE BELKAN WAR* (Steam port), will be distributed for the Steam version of *ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE*, the latest installment in the series released on October 2.
It has been revealed that the game will be able to run as a standalone title
The ported version of “Ace Combat Zero” is treated as DLC exclusively on Steam
While “Ace Combat Zero,” obtained as a pre-order bonus for “Ace Combat 8,” can be launched as a standalone game on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S console versions, on Steam it is “provided as a DLC executable file that launches separately from the main game,”requiring *Ace Combat 8* to be installed; as a result, it currently cannot be launched on its own.
From the consideration stage to the prospect of releasing it as a standalone app
Regarding this matter, it was announced late at night on the day before the official release that countermeasures were being considered. However, on the evening of October 2—the day of release—along with a renewed apology, it was revealed that discussions were progressing toward releasing it as a standalone app.
If this plan is implemented, the Steam version will function similarly to the console versions, allowing *Ace Combat Zero* to run independently without requiring the main game, *Ace Combat 8*, to be installed.

As a result, we now expect to proceed with discussions aimed at changing the current distribution model—which requires launching and playing the main game,
*ACE COMBAT™ 8: WINGS OF THEVE*—to a model where *ACE COMBAT ZERO* is distributed as a standalone application on Steam.We are
currently exploring specific implementation methods and release timelines. We will provide another update once details—including whether
this change is feasible—have been finalized. We aim to deliver the game in a way that meets
your expectations and will continue to work closely with all relevant parties to achieve this.

“ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE,” the first new entry in the series in seven years, is available for PC (Steam),PS5, andXBOX Series X|S, and has been on sale since 7:00 a.m. on October 2.
For the digital version, purchasing before the release date also allowed players to obtain the ported version of “Ace Combat Zero.” This “Ace Combat Zero” is not scheduled for standalone release in the future and is available exclusively as a pre-order bonus.
