At the TGS 2026 venue, KONAMI showcased “WaiWai World Craft,” a social game creation network for PC (Steam), Android, and iOS, and held the world’s first playable demo.

Based on the concept of “We want you to create games and have others play them,” this title allows players to create their own games, share them with the world, and have other players enjoy them. In addition to creating and publishing games, the game offers a variety of ways to enjoy the experience, such as playing games created by other players or playing games provided by the official developers.

I was able to experience this game for about 15 minutes at the Tokyo Game Show 2026 venue. In this article, I’d like to share what I learned about the game’s systems and its appeal after trying it out for myself.

The possibilities are endless! Create your very own original game! The possibilities are endless! Create your very own original game!

“WaiWai World Craft” is a game creation platform where players can create their own original games and share the finished products with other players to enjoy together.

In this game, you build your very own game by combining stages, rules, items, and gameplay mechanics based on the game’s pre-built core systems. Since you can create games by combining pre-made assets and game mechanics, even players with no game development experience—and absolutely no knowledge of programming or coding—can easily enjoy the creative process.

I felt that the game’s greatest appeal lies in the fact that players can bring their own ideas—such as “I’d like to make a game like this”—to life.

Using the “World Editor,” players can fine-tune settings for blocks, mechanics, and more. By combining the provided game systems, players can turn their own ideas into actual games.

In particular, what I found especially appealing is the ability to create both 2D and 3D games. Since you can switch between 2D and 3D depending on the game genre and visual style, you have even greater freedom to bring your ideas to life.

Additionally, when it comes to gameplay styles, you can create games designed for a variety of playstyles—not just solo play, but also cooperative multiplayer and competitive modes.

Furthermore, you can pay close attention not only to the game’s content but also to stage decorations, items, mechanics, background music, and sound effects. Since you can not only turn the rules you’ve devised into a fully-fledged game but also meticulously craft the stage’s appearance and presentation, it seems likely that completely different creations will emerge depending on the player.

Since the hands-on session was limited to about 15 minutes, I wasn’t able to thoroughly test all the features. However, even in that short time, I was able to interact with the game not by “playing a pre-made game,” but by thinking, “What kind of game would I create?”—which made me feel that this title is truly striving to make game creation accessible to everyone.

Customize existing games to create your very own masterpiece! Customize existing games to create your very own masterpiece!

There are also play options designed for players who feel that “creating a game from scratch right away seems too difficult.”

In this game, you can use officially provided games as a base, tweak the rules and stages, and adapt them into your own unique game.

Even just changing the rules while keeping the basic mechanics of the original game intact can drastically change the feel of the gameplay.

As a result, even players who aren’t used to game development can start by customizing a pre-made game.

Even if you’re thinking, “I’d like to try making a game, but starting from scratch is too hard,” this system lets you experience the joy of game creation by gradually adding your own ideas while working with an existing game.

“Magic Pod”: Create a Game Base in About 3 Minutes

Furthermore, “Magic Pod” helps lower the barrier to entry for game creation.

In this game, you can automatically generate a game in about 3 minutes simply by answering a few questions.

Even players who want to make a game but “don’t know where to start” can create a game framework simply by selecting from the provided options.

It’s important to note, however, that the game generated by Magic Pod is not the final product.

Players can then customize the generated game themselves. You can start by using Magic Pod to build the foundation of your game, and then use tools like the World Editor to refine it to your liking.

While “making your own game” might sound difficult, this title significantly lowers the barrier to entry by starting with automatic generation.

Start by creating a simple game. From there, let your ideas grow—thinking, “I want to make this part harder” or “I want to add this mechanic.”

This step-by-step approach to game creation is a unique feature of this title.

Let players around the world play the games you’ve created Let players around the world play the games you’ve created

And the creative process in this game doesn’t end once you’ve finished a game.

You can publish your finished game so other players can play it.

Conversely, as a player yourself, you can search for games published by others from around the world and play the ones that catch your interest.

In other words, this title establishes a cycle of “creating games,” “publishing them,” and “having other players enjoy them.”

Another unique appeal of this game is that you can switch back and forth between the roles of “Creator,” who makes games, and “Player,” who enjoys games created by players from around the world.

Not only is this game designed for those interested in game development, but even if you’re not interested in making games yourself, you can still have fun simply by discovering and playing games created by other players.

Support your favorite creators with “Likes” and “Recommendations”

For players, there are also systems in place to rate games and support creators.

You can give a “Like” to any game you find “fun” while playing. Furthermore, you can use an item called “Oshi-Dori,” which you collect while playing, to support the game’s creator.

In this game, there isn’t a simple division between “game creators” and “players.”

Players support creators who make fun games, and this feedback provides opportunities for even more players to discover their work.

A community centered around games, where creators and players connect, will gradually form within this title.

You Can Enjoy It Even If You Don’t Make Games You Can Enjoy It Even If You Don’t Make Games

While we’ve focused on game creation so far, this title isn’t one where you “can’t have fun unless you make games.”

You can play games provided by the official platform, or search for and play games created by other players.

As a result, not only those who want to “try making their own games,” but also players who want to “find and play fun games,” “enjoy games with friends,” or “support the people who made them” can all enjoy the game in their own way.

A player who used to just “play” games decides one day to try making one themselves. Then, someone else plays that game.

Isn’t this expansion of how people play the very appeal of *WaiWai World Craft*?

Although I couldn’t experience everything the game has to offer in a short 15-minute trial session, I could sense the potential to break down the barriers between players and creators and turn ideas like “It would be fun if there were a game like this” into actual games.

I’m eager to see what kinds of games players will create in the future and how they’ll spread. I’ll be keeping a close eye on the future of this title, which lets you not only “play” games but also “create and share” them.
