The Tokyo Game Show, a gaming exhibition that first took place in 1996, will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026.This year marks the first time in history that the event will run for five days, with the theme “The Longest 5 Days Ever, Packed with Fun.” The event runs from Thursday, September 17—which includes Respect for the Aged Day—through Monday, September 21 (a national holiday). The first two days are Business Days, and the event is open to the general public from the 19th through the 21st.
TGS 2025 drew 263,101 visitors, marking the third-highest attendance in history. The all-time record for total attendance was set in 2024 with 274,739 visitors. Since this year’s event spans five days, all eyes are on whether it will break that record.
Unfortunately, it’s currently cloudy in Kaihin Makuhari, and according to the weather forecast, the temperature is 24 degrees as of 11:00 a.m.The weather has been consistently poor lately, and with reports of a typhoon approaching, it looks like TGS will take place under cloudy or rainy conditions. However, given that recent TGS events have been known for being “hot”—which led to improvements in air conditioning—these temperatures might actually be quite comfortable.
