The game development circle "Furikenmojure~shon" has announced that it will release the 3D dungeon RPG *Magic Story 2*, which it developed, on October 14.
A DRPG featuring bizarre monsters—an homage to *Madou Monogatari*—is coming
This title is the sequel to the 3D dungeon RPG *Magic Story*, which was previously available on *PetitCon 3* and *PetitCon BIG* for the 3DS and Wii U.While the original *Magic Story* is no longer playable due to the termination of online services for *PetitCon 3/PetitCon BIG*, *Magic Story 2* is designed to be a standalone title that can be enjoyed without any prior knowledge of its predecessor.
One of the game’s major features is that “no numerical values are used at all for character stats or damage.” Damage dealt to enemies is described in text such as “significant damage” or “moderate damage,” and no specific damage numbers are ever displayed.The same applies to character HP and MP. This system requires a slightly different approach to resource management than in other games.
Another key feature is “dungeon exploration through coordinated efforts between multiple parties of unique characters.” A variety of characters appear, such as Meryl, the “boku-style” girl, and Lily, the martial arts-loving young lady.
Inside dungeons, you can switch between two parties at any time; even if one party gets stuck, continuing the exploration with the other party might lead you to a new path.
Incidentally, when I previously spoke with the game’s creator, they mentioned that the combat system (fuzzy parameters), the quirky monsters, and the characters’ personalities were all influenced by and pay homage to the *Madou Monogatari* series.
“Magic Story 2” is scheduled for release on October 14 for PC (DLsite/BOOTH) for 2,000 yen. A demo version is also available on the official website, as well as on DLsite and BOOTH.
