First Simultaneous Release Across All Platforms in the Series — Features of the Switch 2 Version
*Tropico* is a dictatorship simulation game where you play as “El Presidente,” the leader of a small island nation in the Caribbean, and run the country. Set across four eras—from the colonial era through World War II, the Cold War, and into the modern era—you aim to develop your island and maintain your regime.
In the latest installment in the series, *Tropico 7*, political maneuvering and decision-making have become even more profound thanks to an evolved “Constitutional System,” new decrees, and the “Political Matrix.” Furthermore, the “Terraforming System” allows you to freely alter the island’s terrain, enabling you to build your ideal nation exactly as you envision it.
A previous Game*Spark article covered the hands-off presentation held at gamescom 2026. The presentation showcased a number of improvements, including the series’ first-ever terraforming, curved roads, highly flexible building placement, a more detailed citizen simulation, and a significantly overhauled political system.
Note that January 28, 2027, is the scheduled global release date (local time). An official announcement regarding the release date for the Japanese version is expected from Kalypso Media Japan shortly.
