On September 15, Taiwanese indie game developer Lao Fenxiao released “Blood Lilies: Don’t Let the Serial Killer Get Caught Between the Lilies,” a yuri × mystery × comedy visual novel he developed, on PC (Steam).
Whoever Gets Caught Between the Lilies Dies (There Is Always Only One Truth)
This B-movie horror-style mystery comedy adventure features a heroine who has a crush on her best friend.
Lili has a crush on her best friend, Sui, a girl with short hair.When Lili invites Suu on a hot spring trip, a murder occurs at the inn where they’re staying, throwing the scene into total chaos. An outraged Lili declares war on the culprit, shouting, “Don’t get caught between Suu and me!”—it’s a truly outrageous premise.
Visually, the culprit looks like the “Sleeping Detective” and the boy with the bow tie might tag along, but since they won’t be caught in the middle of a yuri romance, they probably won’t appear.
Everyone except the main characters is depicted as silhouettes. Given the layout of this character list screen, it feels like a high school detective whose grandfather is a famous detective might show up, but since getting caught in the middle of a yuri relationship isn’t exactly desirable, he probably won’t appear.
There’s also a character who sets up all the cliché plot flags. Just what will become of him?
Players control the characters from a top-down view as they tackle the case. In this game, your choices branch into as many as 10 different endings. Will you be able to bring the murderer who has intruded upon the yuri relationship to justice?
Note that this title consists of two parts; Part 1 is reportedly a game adaptation heavily dramatized from a tabletop role-playing game (TRPG) replay by the developer and a friend.
