At the “Japan Game Awards 2026 Annual Works Category Announcement and Awards Ceremony,” held on September 15, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., *Meccha Chameleon* won the “Movement Award.”

The Japan Game Awards is an awards program organized by the Computer Entertainment Association (CEA), a general incorporated association, since fiscal year 1996. Guided by the principles of “openness,” “fairness,” and “impartiality,” the program selects and honors outstanding video games regardless of platform. It views video games as a form of culture and aims to contribute to their promotion and the development of the gaming industry, while also seeking to broaden public recognition. The awards consist of the “Annual Game Category” for already released titles, the “Future Category” for unreleased titles, and the “Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award,” which honors individuals and production teams who have contributed to the development of the gaming industry.

“Movement Award” Goes to *Meccha Chameleon*

“Meccha Chameleon” has been awarded the “Movement Award” in the “Game of the Year” category. The “Movement Award” is presented to a title that has made a memorable impact that year by reaching a wide audience, including users who do not typically play games actively. This title sold 15 million copies in less than a month after its release. Furthermore, it reached 20 million copies in about two months after launch.

There was a murmur of excitement when the “Movement Award” was announced. Although they were unable to attend the awards ceremony in person, messages regarding the award were delivered on behalf of Mr. Remorion and Mr. Hagineiro.

My name is Remorion, and I was in charge of planning and graphics. I am deeply honored to receive such a wonderful award.I am very happy that so many people, not only in Japan but also overseas, have enjoyed playing our game. Although development for this title took place over a short period, we were able to proceed smoothly by leveraging the know-how we’ve gained from our previous projects. It has reaffirmed my belief that continuing to make games was the right choice. I still have many ideas I want to bring to life, so I will continue creating games. I would be grateful for your continued support.

My name is Haganero, and I was in charge of the systems and visual effects. I’m both surprised and very happy to receive such an award just three months after the game’s release. To be honest, I never expected such a huge response.Over the past few months, such a wide variety of gameplay videos have been posted on social media—more than I could possibly watch—and I’ve truly enjoyed watching them all. We’ll continue working on various improvements so that you can enjoy *Meccha Chameleon* even more, so please stay tuned. Finally, I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who played our game.

The Grand Prize was awarded to “Poko a Pokémon.” Previous winners include “Metaphor: Refantagio” in 2025 (29th edition) and, in 2024(28th edition) *The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom*, and 2023 (27th edition) *Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak* have also received this award.

The “Future Category” results are scheduled to be announced on September 20 at 1:00 PM.
