On September 16, 2026, Nihon Falcom announced that it had entered into a commercialization license agreement with NEOWIZ for the development of its RPG *The Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch* for PC and home consoles, as well as for its release in the global market.
A JRPG released in 1994 may be making a comeback worldwide…

*The Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch* is an RPG released by Nihon Falcom for the PC-9801 in 1994. As the third installment in the company’s *The Legend of Heroes* series, it earned high praise as a “poetic RPG” that emphasized a meticulously crafted world and a compelling narrative.
The game is positioned as part of the “Gagarb Trilogy,” along with the later releases *The Legend of Heroes IV: Crimson Tear* and *The Legend of Heroes V: Ballad of the Sea*, and is also considered the origin of the *Trails* series, which began with *The Legend of Heroes VI: Trails in the Sky*.
Now, a licensing agreement has been signed for this title with South Korea’s NEOWIZ, known for titles such as *Lies of P* and *DJMAX*. This agreement is aimed at development and a worldwide release on PC and home consoles.
As for current console ports of this title, *EGG Console: The Legend of Heroes III: The White Witch Renewal PC-9801* is available on Nintendo Switch; however, it remains unclear whether this new licensing agreement will involve a faithful recreation of the original game or a complete remake as a brand-new title.
Although details are still scarce, fans of Nihon Falcom’s RPGs should keep an eye out for this.
